Summer is here, which means The River Church is heading outdoors! Our space at Community Park allows us to worship in some creative & fun ways. We have a beautiful lake view and we'd like to soak that in as often as we possibly can. So, this summer, we will have at least 3 of our Sunday services outside!! Those service dates are: **June 30- UPDATE** Due to the high heat index predicted for Sunday, we are going to stay indoors under the fans. July 28 This week those who would like to stay after and grill out are welcome to! The River will provide the protein to grill & drinks. If you plan to stay, please bring a dish to share. August 25 This is also BAPTISM Sunday!! If you would like to know more about baptism, please contact us at the office, or speak with Pastor Zac. We will celebrate with a picnic after the service. Food & Drinks provided by The River Church.
Lamenting is something the Western church isn't familiar or comfortable with. Rather than express our emotions, we brush them to the side, hide or ignore them. We'll do anything but face the hurt we feel, and we may feel uncomfortable crying out to God. In this series, we will talk about how it is possible to trust God’s goodness in the face of the brokenness and despair that exists in the world. Using the Old Testament books, Psalms and Lamentation, we will work to build up a prayer language of lament that does not come off as an angry tirade against God. Instead, we will work to turn toward God with a prayer language led with honest complaint, recognizing God's goodness and mercy, resulting in a deep trust in the ways of God even in the middle of the storms of life.

Be aware of your surroundings and be willing and intentional to let God use you.

In our six week series, “Rhythms of Grace,” we are challenging the church to think about what it means to live life with more gospel intentionality. THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE: As you walk through this week, take some time and block out space (20-30 minutes) for just you and the Holy Spirit. Know that you are spending time with the best friend, source of comfort, and discernment God could ever give you. He will take care of the rest. "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever - the Spirit of truth. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you." John 14:16-18

Calling all Kids: Sundays in June are all about Survivor - Out of Egypt Focus: Moses leading his people out of Egypt. Each Sunday will begin at Base Camp with a Tribal Council where the kids will hear the weekly story. Then everyone will head outside for a tribe against tribe against tribe challenge. Afterwards, it's back to Tribal Council for snack, prayer & clean up. This week's adventure: 1. Naming the individual tribes 2. Making banners. Are you ready to be a survivor? We'll see you Sunday!!
On Sunday, we talked about the everyday rhythm of EATING! In our six week series, “Rhythms of Grace,” we are challenging the church to think about what it means to live life with more gospel intentionality. THIS WEEK’S CHALLENGE: Eat with three people this week! “The invitation to share a table is a profoundly meaningful one in every culture. So I’m calling you to foster the habit of eating with three people each week. You won’t need to add a great deal into your often already busy schedule. You already eat three times a day. That’s twenty-one meals a week. I’m simply asking that you bring another person to your table for three of those. Or if you want to cut corners, you could bring three people to your table for one of them. Your meal could be an elaborate dinner party, or it could be breakfast, or even just coffee and a donut. This beautiful woman BLESSED The River Church this past Sunday with her heartfelt JOY in serving communion! Every day we have the chance to look beyond ourselves and be a light to others. In our workspace, at the grocery store, on our morning walk, chatting with our neighbor or even a genuine smile to someone not feeling so joyful. It's often in the small everyday activities that the greatest impact can be made. May our eyes be open to the world of opportunities around us.

At The River Church, we have a passion to love people well so that the name of Jesus would be known. We are intentionally doing church differently so that we can free up resources that would normally go toward sustaining a building, and pour them back into our community. One way that we do that is through our weekly Noisy Offering. This offering is run by our River Kids. It is loud and it is fun, and has been a great way for our youngest generation to see the impact of giving. Each month this offering goes toward a cause or an organization that serves our community. May's offering will go toward providing a meal at the Delavan Fire Station for our First Responders.
